Who We Are

The World Forum on Peace and Security is a dynamic platform that unites diverse voices—former diplomats, Nobel Peace Prize laureates, policymakers, academics, and civil society leaders—to tackle pressing global challenges. Our founders, James Bacchus (former U.S. congressman and WTO Appellate Body judge), Klaus Buchner (former European Parliament member and physics professor), and Mahmoud Refaat (president of the European Institute for International Law), established the forum to drive meaningful change through expertise and action.

At the World Forum on Peace and Security, we are committed to creating a world where peace, justice, and sustainability thrive. Founded in 2021 in Stockholm, Sweden and registered in Washington DC, USA in 2024, our international nonprofit organization aims to bring together global leaders, experts, and communities to address the root causes of conflict, foster dialogue, and promote innovative solutions for lasting security. As a registered nonprofit in US (EIN: 301429149) and in Sweden (ORG. no.: 8025381271), we work tirelessly to empower collaboration, mediate disputes, and advance global cooperation for a better future.

We envision a world where conflicts are resolved through inclusive negotiations and international cooperation, grounded in the principles of freedom, justice, and equality. Our work strives to build a future where sustainable peace is not just a goal but a reality for all.

The World Forum on Peace and Security was established by a team of leaders committed to global peace:

James Bacchus: Professor of World Affairs and Director of the Center for World Economic and Environmental Opportunity at the University of Central Florida. He was a founding judge and was twice the Chairman – the chief judge – of the highest court of world trade, the Appellate Body of the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. And former member of USA congress.
